Shannon is a gentle and compassionate therapist working with children, teens, and adults. She is rooted in a holistic, strengths-based, and neuro-affirming perspective that supports people of all ages and backgrounds with a range of mental health needs such as autism, ADHD, depression, trauma, grief, and anxiety. Prior to joining Cortica, Shannon worked as a schools-based therapist in special education departments in Oakland and Richmond, California. She has also co-facilitated nature-based social skills groups and comes with over 7 years of experience providing a range of support as an ABA-based therapist in home, community, and school settings.
Shannon is a trauma-informed Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who began her counseling career in 2019 after receiving a Master’s degree in Holistic Counseling from John F. Kennedy University. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UW-Milwaukee. Since finishing graduate school, Shannon has received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
In her free time, Shannon enjoys hiking, gardening, playing with the furbabies, learning something new, and connecting with loved ones.
