Kristina Louise Groves MA, LMFT, who began her career in the mental health field in 2011, specializes in providing evidence-based therapeutic services to individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults. She enjoys working with individuals, families, and couples. She has expertise in trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), along with other evidence-based treatment modalities.
Prior to joining Cortica, Kristina served in various clinical and leadership roles, including Clinical Director at Community Bridges Inc., where she oversaw multiple programs, including crisis, inpatient, and residential services. She also provided therapy in private practice, focusing on individuals exposed to high levels of trauma. Additionally, she has experience as a clinician at HeartLand Child & Family Services, working extensively with children, adolescents, and their families.
Kristina holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from Brandman University and a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from California State University-Sacramento. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Arizona and California.
Kristina is dedicated to providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care while helping individuals cultivate resilience and emotional well-being. Her connection to Cortica’s mission is deeply personal, as she is neurodivergent herself, allowing her to empathize with children and families on a firsthand level. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and her dogs, practicing Pilates, and discovering new hiking trails.
